When the student is ready a Master shall appear…

The majority of my education, I looked outside myself to other cultures to understand the truth and I’m finding that this has been an ongoing tactic within imperialism and slavery towards black people. To not see yourself as great. To not see yourself as worthy. To doubt that you have the potential to be what you were born to be. Self doubt…we have been brainwashed to not accept that we are creators of our existence. Dominant culture has colonized history, information about history, image, expression, and every system we enter into within society and it was all by design…..

Once you loose track of your heritage, you loose track of your liberty in this world. – John Henrik Clark

Today I’m choosing liberation thru relearning who my people were and are every moment within the day and building space thru design to make this a reality. Last year, I decided to take the risk to attend graduate school much later in life. I got married extremely young thinking that it was apart of the “American dream” and it was more of a nightmare to my soul than anything. Yet I’m learning to thrive beyond it.

Faith has not spared me for idle reasons. – John Henrik Clark

So what has made me strong enough to make this leap with all the challenges that come before me as a black woman living in America? All throughout my life, I’ve worked within emerging technology fields such as technology, telecommunications, project management, .com companies, learning design, serious game design and research, digital credentialing, and design management. So it was only right to find a graduate program that was just as unique, different, and one of a kind so I applied to the University of Michigan Penny Stamps School of Art and Design Master of Integrative Design Program. It is one of the top Art and Design schools in the country and I will soon become the first black woman in the world to graduate from UM within this program. I’m here to enter into a practice of deep listening and humility, as I help define the field of integrative design. My end goal: to give the restoration of confidence within myself and my people as we build sustainable communities through design.

So a master shall now appear…

Today as a people, we are living in the time of great creation and conceptualization we live in a pluriverse where the unseen is revealed for what it is and what it is not…It is now time to build new systems and give the world its last humanity. We must rule the state again. We must work across various domains looking at ourselves for problems as we work towards our solutions as design becomes the connective tissue. John Henrik Clark once said that “culture fertilizes culture. People fertilize culture” so in this new world today…if we are not comprehending the very nature of ourselves and others from a divine perspective then we’re still living in the haphazardness of 20th century industrial thinking which is a product of the insecurities of colonialism.

It’s time for DESIGN to bring forth a new beginning….

A constant factor of life is always…

change moves us to love

“All that you touch
You Change.

All that you Change
Changes you.

The only lasting truth
is Change.

God
is Change.”

The one thing you can’t say about change…is that it’s boring.

It’s literally the one constant alongside love that helps to shape our human experience. Yet we never acknowledge the vast currents of energy that exists with the the waves as… we enter the change …. to “become” the change…then “be” what the change is calling for.

We smile, act ignorant, act oblivious as we go against the current of our intuition. Yet here’s a reflected note to self: Has your intuition every left you astray?

Some of us, as we choose the path, to go against the fear, to be who you were born to be. We stand in it. Figuring out how to live within the present, pushing past the past, as the future is created within the praxis of today. Praxis is the accumulating function of what culture is..and what it will always be. Change happens within divine intent wrapped within the “nature of reality (ontology), value orientation (value orientation), relationship to the divine (cosmology), a system of truth and methods of generating knowledge (epistemology) as well as a system of human contact (system of human contact), (praham 2014). Love is the frequency that allows you to build within this mindset. Reflected note to self: Who told you being great was going to be easy?

Only love frees us to be the beloved community we always seek to belong within while we rely on the principle of harmony within the universe as a natural order of human existence:

  • The practice of “knowing that the spiritness permeates everything that is.
  • The notion that everything in the universe is interconnected.
  • Our collective is the most salient element of existence while the idea that self knowledge is the key to mental health. (T. parham 2014)

Nothing in this universe can survive centuries of dynasties without anchoring the human spirit of self to itself….Change is what awakens (the connections of) the spirit to love.

Reflective question to self: “if we cannot understand and love ourselves, how will we have the energy to love and understand others? (Thich Nhat Hanh)

I know this: the Sentimentality (of this world) does not exist within divine change. Change is about learning. It is love. #criticallearning

Chapter 4: self-love 2019

Sitting amongst the paper chasing dreams and bad love songs of America

reading between the lives of the many types of love I choose to consume and create.

Choice is love. love is choice.

And now my heart is widening for new adventures within the sun beams casting upwardly to the universe

I say BE.

so the universe begins to shift as to make room

for the design intent that my power tower emits

The time of mastery appears as the once student becomes the master.

What I want isn’t always what it seems to be

What the world needs is more than my small ego can give

It enwraps me within the time love continuum. through my consistent choice of love and living in the space of gratitude is how I know that there is a source greater than myself. No one. No one gets out of this life alone. No one. We’re all connected.

so

me being me

me loving me

my authenticity

rising in the sun past the moon light beams of mass conformity

I do this due to My two young children look to me for everything

As my eldest is caught in between the light field bonded by old memories

as my old life fights stupidly against the misinformation of it’s needs

that ego

that fragility

that narcissistic fucked up vibrational energy of all about me

fuck sympathy..I want empathy narc life will have you wrapped up in all types of self inflicted questioning and reasoning

if you don’t know

Where I go

there’s no comfort in knowing

there’s comfort only in the ambiguity

of life and space every time the sun shines

rain falls to give new life

darkness is the womb of creation

I was born to give new light

So I tell the universe

oh, you’re gonna love me
You’re gonna wanna hug me and squeeze me. Cause I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

so I awake with the time of light and the bare footness of God

imagining, creating, designing intentionally

while loving me.

while loving me.

while loving me.

What’s in a piece of information?

What can you tell about a person’s ideology based upon the books they read?

Better yet, what can you tell about an academic mind thinks by what they consume (Journals, white papers, articles, books, weblinks, etc)

My list for the last month:

A Change of Frequency Announcement

“Alone, i am nothing. i have nothing.we have power.but we will never know it,we will never see it work.unless we come together to make it work.”
― Ayi Kwei ArmahThe Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born
Rethink this phrase:  That you are extraordinary.

You are only as extraordinary by the company you keep.
Your mind.
Your thoughts.
Your community.
You’re scenius.
Who you are first.
What you produce.
within the legacy of love you impart to others
as well as yourself.

Fuck genius…
Genius is a dominant culture term.
Most genius minds are tormented, twisted and mad within their patriarchal thinking.
We have to reach a bit further than what’s made visible.
CENTERING. Centering..centering centering
allows for evolution.

You, my people, are born to TRANSCEND.
You are born to be a CREATOR
of
New meaning
New thoughts
New culture
New experiences
New patterns
New connections
New consciousness
Elevated frequencies
WE create…
THIS IS AN interruption

Let’s self master…let’s build our future.

No one wants to hear a black woman cry…

The image is by @ashelystraker of a  black queen with a crown made of energy silently crying on the inside.

No one wants to hear

a black woman cry

they don’t want to hear the utter truth of reality

of how this society

is  not synced within the transmittal waves of the sun

or how the natural patterns of the universe

adjusts to the sounds of our creative souls

our being

that which was is

It is no more

being intermixed within a false reality

this global anti black anthem creates sickness

of  blame

at me

at things

at us black man

at you

while we, are in and incumbent slumber of perpetual nightmares

as some of you walk past within your lower vibration

waves

we still love…we still love…we still love

Remember our dreams are mere touch points of learning

they do not define our souls

learning the secrets of

our trueselves

cures

this unjust timing

as our cries go into the darkness of undefined love, misogynistic temptations of children not yet arisen

our tightly knit cries

of untrust

are just

what keeps the world in a midst of silent mercy

Can you feel the change of frequency

Where love resides?

let’s be silent…….

Its time

to recreate our reality again

within ourselves

our family

our community

it will happen only thru black women

No one wants to hear black women cry

except God,

the Universe and the sun..

The elements are our angels, spirit souls connected to our vibrations

So a nation can rise no higher than where have chosen to stand….

Sistas we have work todo within in our own skin.

Let’s lift our vibrations within circles

cut the tv off, stop posting, let our love vibrate faster the sound.

despite the daily pains we take to keep this world in tact

truthful cries covered in false reality

in authentic lies and systems

that keep creativity from breathing…..

No one wants to hear black women cry

except God,

the Universe and the sun..

Time is my everything…

Time is my lover

It is my friend

It speeds the necessity of flow

Within the veins of all that will be..

all that is known

we once were romantic lovers

we both figured out very early

Sentimentality isn’t the strongest of bonds for us to be in

it’s not real enough for us

we both became disappointed quite easily

across vortexes

So we decided to yield to our natural waves

within vibrational love

Understanding

Care

consistency

In knowing that time only tells with this one life.

Times intention for me is always in lifting me up

To be greater than what I can see within the moment

it’s within that moment I’m able to lay seeds

for the future tense and only time allows me to see

for me..I respect the laws of it’s frequency

So time…

It’s the angel of stillness upon a frosted corner in the middle of a lonely night when only the sounds of nature and the spirit world are active.

it allows me to be courageous

It’s my navigation system within a jungle of oppressive systems

it allows me to be resilient

It’s the brilliant sunbeams that feed my melanin energy at the calm of every story that my ancestors have transmitted unto my DNA

it allows me to create

I allow it to love me

Time

Time

Time

Is my lover

It’s my friend

It’s my twin soul experience of what was before and everything that comes after it

it’ will be my forever meantime

Time is my everything…

my year of intentions 2018

Tonight I am writing out my year long intentions that I will focus on throughout the year.  These are areas within my life that I’m passionate about and would like to see grow:

  1. Ask empowering questions to God through prayer.
  2. Love with no fear.
  3. Work on myself, within my family, with my children, to spread peace and love as deeply as we can.
  4. Meditate profusely.
  5. Utilize my prophetic imagination within every endeavour.
  6. Share more of my gifts through the arts, social justice, and foresight.
  7. Redirect energy that isn’t mine.
  8. Focus on my lessons and not use the pain for reference anymore.
  9. Give deep attention in growing the act, process, and gift of critical learning wherever I go.
  10. Work with people who are doing similar community work, who are fearless within the cause.

Wish me the best or you can join me!

Thought it would be fun to share my 2017 playlist.  I’m sure there are several more I could have added.  Yet each song helped me get through a point of time throughout the year.   Some of the songs are so random yet they caught my ear and allowed me to learn something.  Next time I’ll lay out my mix tape collection!
